As such, Gas Malaysia Berhad strives to improve the quality of life of the underprivileged through an agenda that cultivates better communities tomorrow.
Gas Malaysia Berhad recently conducted a CSR programme in collaboration with Kampung Pos Bersih community in Behrang, Perak, including planting fruit saplings and distributing “Bakul Rezeki” with essential supplies to 40 needy families, focusing on Orang Asli communities. In partnership with Jabatan Perhutanan Semenanjung Malaysia, Gas Malaysia donated 150 tree seeds for long-term local benefit.
Sixty volunteers participated in tree planting to support environmental preservation and an additional river cleaning event enhanced ecosystem health. CEO Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap emphasised Gas Malaysia’s commitment to CSR across its pipeline-operating regions, promoting community, sports, education and environmental initiatives. Gas Malaysia’s donation of RM10,000 towards a “surau” construction for the Orang Asli community was lauded by Behrang state assemblyman Salina Samsudin, highlighting the company’s impactful community support efforts in Perak.
Gas Malaysia Berhad is collaborating with the Gibbon Conservation Society (GCS) and the local Orang Asli community in Raub, Pahang, as part of its environmental corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
Recently, Gas Malaysia donated two pick-up trucks to GCS for transporting rescued gibbons and supplies and organised a volunteer effort where 40 personnel planted fruit trees at the rehabilitation centre and participated in a river cleaning initiative. Additionally, Gas Malaysia extended support to around 20 Orang Asli families with essential household groceries.
Gas Malaysia Berhad launched a fabric recycling initiative at its head office in Shah Alam, in collaboration with Kloth Cares. This effort aims to reduce the volume of unwanted fabrics in landfills by collecting and sorting items such as garments, textiles and accessories.
Usable fabrics are donated to charitable organisations, while those in poor condition are recycled into industrial materials and upcycled clothing. This initiative also extends to educational institutions, with UOW Malaysia KDU participating by placing recycling bins on campus. This initiative not only supports environmental sustainability but also fosters a culture of recycling among employees and the broader community.
In line with our commitment to environmental conservation, we organised a CSR initiative led by our CEO Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap, where employees planted 300 mangrove seedlings at Kuala Selangor Nature Park.
This effort highlights the company’s dedication to balancing corporate ambitions with sustainable practices, recognising the critical role of natural gas as a clean energy alternative. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Gas Malaysia remains steadfast in promoting environmental sustainability and supporting its diverse clientele in manufacturing.
Gas Malaysia Berhad, in partnership with the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan), initiated a CSR programme at the River Terrapin Conservation Centre in Bota Kanan, Perak.
This initiative aims to drive the recovery of the critically endangered river terrapins. Gas Malaysia donated an egg-hatching incubator to improve hatching success rates and provided water pumps and filters for the breeding pond.
In recognition of the urgent need to protect the declining population of Malayan Tigers, Gas Malaysia Berhad has allocated financial assistance to support comprehensive conservation initiatives. These efforts are aimed at addressing the various threats facing Malayan Tigers, such as habitat loss, poaching and human-wildlife conflict.
By providing financial support, we contribute to crucial activities such as habitat restoration, anti-poaching measures, wildlife monitoring and community engagement. Our commitment underscores the importance of collective action in safeguarding this iconic species and preserving the biodiversity of its natural habitat for future generations.
Gas Malaysia reaffirms its commitment to supporting underprivileged B40 students in rural areas by contributing RM407,000 to YPM’s Smart Tuition Programme in 2024. This funding will facilitate supplementary tuition classes for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates, particularly those in rural regions, by qualified teachers.
By collaborating with YPM since 2019, Gas Malaysia aims to level the educational playing field and create opportunities for academic excellence among these students. Looking ahead, Gas Malaysia seeks to expand its support to ensure more B40 students achieve their educational aspirations.
Gas Malaysia Bhd, through its wholly owned subsidiary Gas Malaysia Energy and Services Sdn Bhd (GMES), partnered with Central Medicare Sdn. Bhd. to support 188 underprivileged students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Changkat Jong (SKCJ) in Teluk Intan, Perak, for their new school term.
This initiative, part of Gas Malaysia’s CSR pillar focused on education, provided essential school supplies and infrastructure upgrades to ensure all students have the resources needed for effective learning.

Gas Malaysia Berhad organised a “Back to School” programme providing school necessities to 150 underprivileged children from Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim Baitul Lathofah in Rawang. This initiative, in collaboration with Pertubuhan Baitul Lathofah, aimed to improve the children’s living conditions by supplying school uniforms, shoes and stationery for the 2020 school term.
Gas Malaysia CEO Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap and the senior management team, along with Pertubuhan Baitul Lathofah representatives, attended the event. Ahmad Hashimi also planted a sapling at the orphanage to symbolise the programme’s launch. Additionally, 20 Gas Malaysia employees participated in a gotong-royong session to clean the orphanage, while the company had previously conducted a “Clothes Donation Campaign” for the children’s benefit.
Aligned with our commitment to nurturing local talent, Gas Malaysia proudly sponsors the Football Association of Selangor’s ‘Local Giants Programme.’ This initiative supports young footballers in Selangor by providing professional coaching, state-of-the-art facilities, and competitive opportunities, helping them to excel in the sport.
Through this sponsorship, Gas Malaysia aims to foster the growth of football at the grassroots level and make a lasting impact on the lives of young athletes, aligning with our broader corporate social responsibility goals.
Gas Malaysia Berhad, in collaboration with Pertubuhan Tindakan Wanita Islam (PERTIWI), recently continued its commitment to supporting the homeless and urban poor with a food aid initiative at the Medan Tuanku Transit Center in Kuala Lumpur. This marks the third session of the programme, building on the success of two similar initiatives held in 2024. The effort reflects Gas Malaysia’s dedication to addressing food security and giving back to the community, with over 200 packed meals distributed and volunteers actively participating.

Gas Malaysia Berhad alleviated financial burdens for lower-income motorcyclists riding bikes under 170cc across Peninsular Malaysia amid the Covid-19 pandemic through its CSR initiative titled “Kempen Tuang Minyak — Awak Isi, Kami Bayar”. This programme covers selected petrol stations including Ayer Keroh, Pasir Gudang, Gebeng, Manjung, and Senawang, with plans to expand to Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Shah Alam and Perai.
The initiative has supported approximately 1,000 motorcyclists, providing them with free petrol refill while adhering to SOPs. Gas Malaysia aims to ease the challenges faced by the B40 group during these trying times, highlighting its commitment to community welfare and national celebrations like Merdeka Day through patriotic gestures.
Gas Malaysia Berhad conducted a CSR initiative to aid 100 families in PPR Lembah Subang flats, Petaling Jaya, by distributing essential household items in response to the Covid-19 outbreak. Present at the handover ceremony were YB Tuan Halimey Bin Abu Bakar ADUN Seri Setia and Gas Malaysia CEO Encik Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap, who emphasised the company’s commitment to supporting less fortunate communities affected by the pandemic.
The distributed items included rice, cooking oil, sugar, chilli powder and personal hygiene kits, with safety precautions in place. This initiative aligns with Gas Malaysia’s CSR theme, “Energising the Community” and demonstrates their dedication to helping those in need during these challenging times.
