SHAH ALAM, 9 APRIL 2025 – Gas Malaysia Berhad (“Gas Malaysia” or “the Group”), a member of the MMC Group, wishes to provide an update on the status of the gas supply curtailment. In line with the latest information received from our supplier, (Petronas Gas Berhad) PGB, the Serdang City Gate station has resumed operation to support the recovery process. The reopening of Serdang City Gate station is significant as it will strengthen the overall stability of the gas supply network within the Klang Valley region. Notably, it will reinforce gas supply security to areas such as Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Bangi, Balakong and Seri Kembangan, contributing to an improved gas supply in those regions, precisely for industrial customers.
With this latest development, only four City Gate stations remain to be restored, as efforts by our supplier PGB to fully restore gas supply continues. At present, the number of impacted Gas Malaysia customers has reduced from an initial total of 299, as announced by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) to 275. The curtailment remains in effect and is expected to continue until 20 April 2025, as per the formal notice issued by PGB. We understand the challenges faced by our customers who had to scale down operations
due to the unforeseen gas supply disruption.
On a separate note, the Group wishes to clarify on recent media reports regarding the gas supply disruption due to the pipeline explosion incident in Putra Heights, Selangor. We would like to reiterate that the incident happened at the infrastructure owned and operated by PGB and not at Gas Malaysia facilities.
Gas Malaysia remains fully committed in ensuring the safe and reliable distribution of natural gas through our established pipeline network, in accordance with all regulatory requirements. Mitigating customers impact, ensuring public safety and upholding service integrity will remain Gas Malaysia’s key priorities throughout this challenging phase.
