Responding to a chemical leak from an abandoned tank at KLIA’s Sepang zone

The Management of Gas Malaysia Distribution Sdn Bhd

“Gas Malaysia Distribution Sdn Bhd (GMD), a wholly owned subsidiary of Gas Malaysia Berhad, would like to address the recent incident involving the odorant chemical leak from abandoned skid tank at Sepang Aircraft Engineering’s Southern Support Zone in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). We wish to clarify that the abandoned odorant skid tank involved in the incident and the surrounding gas facilities are not owned by GMD.

We were called to assist Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn Bhd (“MASSB”) to identify the source of leak. As a responsible corporate organisation, our involvement in this situation is to ensure public safety is upheld at all times.”
