





SHAH ALAM, 7 NOVEMBER 2023 – In an effort to align with the national energy transition agenda, Gas Malaysia Berhad (Gas Malaysia), a member of MMC Group, unveiled its business sustainability plan at the Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam. The sustainability plan is aligned with Gas Malaysia’s 10-year strategic business plan, known as GM32, reinforcing its commitment towards supporting the nation’s energy transition agenda. The company’s comprehensive sustainability plan is also aligned with the National Energy Transition Roadmap and New Industrial Master Plan 2030. The launching ceremony was honoured by the presence of Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change, YB Tuan Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, as the guest of honour, accompanied by YBhg Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, Chairman of Gas Malaysia.
Gas Malaysia’s sustainability plan is designed to be holistic and is anchored on four pillars which include advancing environmental sustainability, strengthening business delivery, fostering people-centric organisation as well as enhancing governance and transparency.
At the launching ceremony, Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said, “The government strongly encourages continuous effort from the industrial sector to support the journey towards a sustainable economy. I am pleased to note that Gas Malaysia has taken the initiative to curate its business strategy and sustainability efforts in alignment with our national agenda and our commitment towards a sustainable future.”
Chairman of Gas Malaysia, YBhg Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin said, “We recognise our role in helping the nation to achieve their energy transition goals. As we navigate the dynamic energy landscape, Gas Malaysia plays an even more crucial role in promoting cleaner and more efficient energy solutions. Our aim is to be a significant part of the solution in supporting the government’s effort to address climate change.”
Gas Malaysia is also strategically poised to venture into new emerging energy sector, such as biomethane. At present, the company has commissioned two projects in relation to our biomethane injection into Gas Malaysia’s Natural Gas Distribution System (NGDS).
In its steadfast commitment to strengthen its sustainability initiatives, Gas Malaysia is planning to install rooftop solar panels in all its office premises across Peninsular Malaysia. Additionally, the company is also dedicated to transitioning its entire fleet of petrol and diesel vehicles to electric vehicles (EV) by 2032. These initiatives exemplify Gas Malaysia’s dedication towards a sustainable and environmentally responsible future.
