Gas Malaysia Launches a Motorcycle Refuelling Campaign to Assist the Needy

SHAH ALAM, SELANGOR, 27 August 2021 – With a commitment to aid the needy, Gas Malaysia Berhad (“Gas Malaysia”), a member of MMC Group, conducted a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative by taking up the petrol refill cost for motorcyclists riding motorcycles below 170cc. This CSR initiative was held in an effort to aid the lower income group amidst the adverse impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Themed “Kempen Tuang Minyak – Anda Isi, Kami Bayar”, the CSR initiative was held simultaneously in areas where Gas Malaysia conducts its business operations.

Commenting on the CSR initiative, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Gas Malaysia, En. Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap said, “The CSR programme is intended to ease the burden of the B40 group by subsidising petrol refill cost. This is a timely gesture since the pandemic has had a far-reaching effect on people’s livelihoods, precisely the lower income group. We sincerely hope that with this contribution to a certain extent it will help elevate the difficulties faced by the B40 group, especially in the wake of the current pandemic.

This campaign was held at selected petrol stations throughout Peninsular Malaysia, such as Ayer Keroh (Melaka), Pasir Gudang (Johor), Gebeng (Pahang), Manjung (Perak) and Senawang (Negeri Sembilan). Similar campaign will be held in the near future at selected petrol stations in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Shah Alam and Perai respectively. The CSR programme was conducted by adhering to all the safety protocols in view of the ongoing pandemic. In total, about 750 to 1,000 motorcyclists benefited from this CSR initiative.

With the upcoming 64th Merdeka celebrations just around the corner, each motorcyclists were given Jalur Gemilang in an effort to fire up their spirit of patriotism.

“Previously, Gas Malaysia has conducted similar initiatives targeted at the B40 group, such as donating household groceries to about 200 needy recipients living in Kota Kemuning and Petaling Jaya, contributing medical equipment to 3 hospitals to aid frontliners in treating Covid-19 patients as well as helping about 500 local hawkers and traders in Pantai Dalam by donating household groceries. Moving forward, we will extend our CSR programmes to a wider pool of beneficiaries, given our role as an innovative and value-added premier energy solutions provider,” he concluded.
