SHAH ALAM, 14 MAY 2026 – Gas Malaysia Berhad (“Gas Malaysia”), a member of MMC Corporation Berhad (“MMC”), has successfully deployed the first LOOP system in Asia Pacific, a graphene production and decarbonisation technology developed by Levidian Nanosystems Ltd (“Levidian”).
Installed within Gas Malaysia’s Natural Gas Distribution System (NGDS), the LOOP system is capable of producing high-quality graphene from methane while enabling cleaner energy solutions through the residual hydrogen-rich gas.
The deployment marks a key milestone following the Memorandum of Understanding signed by both parties in June 2025. Building on this foundation, Gas Malaysia and Levidian have entered into an Exclusive Regional Collaboration Agreement to support the phased deployment of LOOP systems across Malaysia and the ASEAN region.
The collaboration supports Gas Malaysia’s GM32 Strategy, its 10-year growth roadmap focused on cleaner energy and advanced materials, in line with Malaysia’s energy transition agenda.
Gas Malaysia’s President & Group Chief Executive Officer, Azli Mohamed, said, “The deployment of Asia Pacific’s first LOOP system reflects our commitment to advancing innovative and low-carbon solutions. Together with Levidian, we aim to support the growth of sustainable industries while creating new value from existing gas infrastructure.”
Levidian’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ian Hopkins, said, “The deployment of our first LOOP system in Asia Pacific, together with this regional collaboration, represents a major step forward in our global commercialisation journey. Localising graphene production is critical to supporting existing and future customers in the region with consistent, high-quality supply.”
The development reflects notable progress in Gas Malaysia’s drive to strengthen its capabilities and unlock long-term value across its gas value chain.
