Environment
Advocating Environmentally Friendly Practices
At Gas Malaysia Berhad, we integrate environmental considerations into our business strategy decision making, to ensure the environment is well protected for the upcoming generations. Our focus is mainly on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy.
This is achieved by promoting the use of natural gas to industrial and commercial sectors, since natural gas in itself is classified as one of the cleanest burning fossil fuels and it contributes positively to the green energy initiatives.
This effort is complemented by further extending the gas distribution pipeline network to existing and new industrial areas within Peninsular Malaysia.
”Fabric
Gas Malaysia launched a fabric recycling initiative at its head office in Shah Alam in collaboration with social enterprise Kloth Cares. This effort was aimed at reducing the amount of fabric ending up in landfills. In total, we adopted 5 fabric recycling bins.
”Mangrove
As part of our efforts to conserve the environment, we held a mangrove tree planting programme at Kuala Selangor Nature Park. The programme saw the participation of our employees and we managed to plant about 300 mangrove seedlings along a designated area in Kuala Selangor Nature Park.
”River
In an effort to support the river terrapin conservation centre protect the endangered species, we assisted the River Terrapin Conservation Centre in Bota Kanan, Perak, by donating an egg-hatching incubator to help with population recovery efforts. In addition, we also upgraded the facility in terms of grill installation, doors, the provision of several water pumps and filtering machines to improve the pond’s water clarity as well as the supply of paint to repair signages.
