These stations are installed to odorise the odorless Natural Gas for easy detection of gas
leakages. A pungent odoriser known as mercaptan is added into the energy mix.
These steel pipelines, measuring between 4 inches to 16 inches in diameter, are designed to carry
a maximum pressure of 360 pounds per square inch (psi). These pipelines transport large volumes of gas
from the Peninsular Gas Utilisation pipelines to the district stations.
The gas pressure is stepped down to between 35psi to 55psi before it is supplied to the distribution
line.
These steel or polyethylene pipelines, measuring between 63mm to 180mm in diameter, are designed
to withstand pressures of up to 60psi and are used to supply Natural Gas to various customers within
the area.
Also known as metering stations, it reduces the gas pressure and is considered to be the custody
