Gas Malaysia offers no compromise on safety measures. We have implemented comprehensive safety
features during the engineering stage of pipeline installations, which includes the following:
We combine pressure regulators, slam-shut safety valves and pressure relief valves to protect
against over-pressure.
Double protection against corrosion for steel gas pipes consisting of a combination of fusion-bonded
epoxy primary coating and a secondary cathodic protection system.
Gas pipes have isolation valves placed at strategic locations for easy isolation in the event of
an emergency.
Natural Gas is odorised for early detection of gas leaks.

You may find Gas Malaysia's markings and above ground warning fixtures such as stone markers and
signboards where there are pipelines running underground.

Our daily patrols are carried out along the pipeline route to complement periodical comprehensive
maintenance.
Our Operations Control Centre (OCC) operates 24 hours a day and acts on calls received (via the
emergency hotline at 1-800-88-9119) from customers and the public. It also handles any emergency
calls and communicates with Gas Malaysia's emergency response team.
Our Geographical Information Systems (GIS) provides up-to-date and accurate information on all gas
facilities throughout Malaysia.
The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system highlights any pressure irregularities
to enable early detection.
Our representatives closely supervise all third party works that are located close to Gas Malaysia's
pipelines.
