Gas Malaysia Sdn Bhd ("Gas Malaysia") was incorporated in May 1992, as a joint venture company between MMC-Shapadu Holdings, Tokyo Gas - Mitsui Holdings and Petroliam Nasional Berhad ("PETRONAS").

PETRONAS has transferred the legal and beneficial ownership of all its 8,559 ordinary shares in Gas Malaysia Sdn Bhd to its subsidary Petronas Gas Berhad ("PGB") on 11th September 2006. The transfer does not include the one "Special Share" in Gas Malaysia, which will continue to be held by PETRONAS.
